Danese Milano Serie della natura Due La Pera screen printing 50x70 cm
Two-color "Due, La Pera" screen printing made on dropjet paper 200g 50x70cm, part of the nature series. Very lively and elegant, this splendid work aims to depict the archetypal nature of the pear, purging it of all superfluous formal details and representing it in its purest form. Printed on dropjet paper closed on the horizontal sides that allow it to be hung, La Pela finds its place in children's rooms, in a kitchen, in a study. Designed by Enzo Mari in 1963 for Danese Milano.
The numbered screen printings of the Nature Series, designed by Enzo Mari and produced by Danese, propose to represent subjects of nature respecting the innate idea that one has by evoking them. The number one screen printing is the Apple, designed in 1963. The fruit is voluntarily reproduced in its original form, like a model, eliminating the superfluous and enhancing only its significant qualities. Enzo Mari's choice of eliminating the superfluous in favour of meaning is to be found in the author's intention of wanting to identify the observer as much as possible with the work, in order to create an emotional connection and representative. The result is an elementary image of the pear, with a full shape and the dominant green colour on a white background. The subject thus becomes an icon, a pear that is La Pera.
