The Doi suspension lamp, designed by Meneghelli Paolelli Associati, proposes a new concept of suspension, adjustable in space, "D" stands for the duo; "O" is a circle, a disk; "I" instead is a line that encloses the light source. Thanks to their continuous interaction, in the DOI suspension system these two parts, the circle, and the line, magnetically draw strength and content from each other; two fundamental forms, which always find a perfect yet inevitably transitory balance. Their interaction modes determine the image, position, and function of the lamp. This relationship is therefore the engine of the whole project, and it is realized in two different ways, relying on two physical forces: magnetism and gravity.
